They also run High Five Kids sensory classes if you want to make a morning of it. Reservations are recommended, and yes, grippy socks are a must.
Magpie Play Cafe A smaller, laid-back option in Boise's Northgate Shopping Center, built for kids six and under. No reservations needed, just a flat day-pass rate, and a coffee shop vibe that makes it easy to sit back while your kid plays close by.
Leap Years Montessori-inspired and designed specifically for ages zero to five, in Boise's North End. The space is intentionally calmer than a typical play center, with an organic cafe on site for the grown-ups.
The new sandbox places everyone's talking about
Sandbox by Hill House, Garden City One of the largest indoor sandboxes in the country, three themed sand areas, custom climbing structures, a full cafe, and a gift shop. No reservations required, just caregiver presence, since this one's built to be a shared experience rather than a drop-off spot.
Sandbox by Hill House, Meridian The original location, more than 14,000 square feet with 600 tons of sand sourced from Emmett, Idaho. A quieter, more open layout if the Garden City location feels like too much.
Sunrise Digger Zone A construction-themed indoor sandbox in Boise built for the kid who's obsessed with trucks and diggers. Real digging tools, real building, plus a cafe area for parents to hang back and watch.
The best parks for letting them run
Ann Morrison Park The interactive fountain here replaced the old raised design with a ground-level water tunnel that's genuinely accessible for kids of every age and ability. It sits right off the Greenbelt, so it's easy to turn into a longer outing.
Borah Park A go-to for a reason, a castle-themed play structure, swings, a free splash pad, and a public pool if you want to make a whole day of it.
Molenaar Park One of the newer splash pads in the city, plus a skate park nearby for older kids. Southwest Boise's best bet for a mixed-age group.
Julia Davis Park Right next to Zoo Boise and the Discovery Center, so a park visit here can turn into a full day depending on how much energy everyone has left.
